My research focuses on understanding how family and contextual factors shape children's developmental outcomes. I am particularly interested in parenting, early literacy, school readiness, early intervention, and the role of family strengths and challenges in children's development and well-being. My work seeks to inform evidence-based interventions, policies, and practices that support children and families across diverse contexts.
Research Areas
My research examines how parenting practices, parenting self-efficacy, parent-child relationships, and family processes influence children's developmental outcomes. I am particularly interested in understanding how family strengths and challenges shape children's cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral development.
I study factors that promote healthy development and learning during early childhood, with a particular focus on school readiness and early literacy. My work explores how home learning environments, shared book reading, and family engagement contribute to children's developmental and educational outcomes.
My research investigates how poverty, family stress, adversity, and trauma influence children and families, as well as the protective factors that promote resilience and positive development. I am interested in family-centered and trauma-informed approaches, including Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), that strengthen relationships and support child and family well-being.
